Back in the Waiting Room again… Wu Mined placed the script ahead of the clock… waiting for the moment to explode…

**Panel 1:**

* **Visual:** A wide, slightly low-angle shot. The grimy, decaying tracks of an abandoned railway line dominate the foreground. In the middle ground, a jagged hole ripped open in the earth, surrounded by loose ballast and twisted metal. Rising from the hole, a phantom figure – the “monster” – silhouetted against a hazy, almost smoky interior of the hole. In the background, the stark, angular lines of the Comet Hotel loom, its signage barely legible, VIEW LOCATION .

* **SFX:** *Rumble… Crack!* (subtle, hinting at the emergence)

**Panel 2:**

* **Visual:** A sudden, violent action panel. A heavily customized, almost futuristic-looking vehicle – the “chariot” – bursts from the side of the frame, kicking up a spray of gravel and sparks. The monster is barely visible behind the tinted windshield, a determined or frantic expression hinted at.

* **SFX:** *VROOOOM! SCREEECH!* (loud, immediate)

**Panel 3:**

* **Visual:** A chaotic chase scene. The monster’s vehicle, rendered with intricate mechanical details (exposed pipes, glowing elements), speeds away from a more conventional, boxy police car in pursuit. Snowflakes are beginning to swirl, catching in the headlights of both vehicles. The background shows a blurred landscape of industrial decay and patches of early snowfall.

* **SFX:** *WHIRR… WHINE… SKRRRT!*

**Panel 4:**

* **Visual:** A high-angle, almost satellite view. Heavy, ominous snow clouds dominate the sky, their undersides dark and textured. Through breaks in the clouds, pinpricks of impossibly bright stars are visible. Below, the landscape is becoming increasingly obscured by banks of freezing fog that swirl above the dark, still surfaces of the municipal boating lake and smaller ponds. The two vehicles are tiny specks on the winding roads.

* **SFX:** *Whoosh… (eerie, atmospheric wind sound)*

**Panel 5:**

* **Visual:** Close-up on the monster’s vehicle. Focus on a heavily modified engine or exhaust system, glowing with intense heat. The sense of immense power and speed is emphasized through motion lines and blurred background.

* **SFX:** *NNNNNNGH! (a deep, resonant engine sound)*

**Panel 6:**

* **Visual:** A dynamic shot from inside the helicopter. The perspective is looking down through a break in the clouds. The monster’s vehicle is a small, fast-moving shape below, leaving a faint trail in the fresh snow. The police car is further behind. The clear patches of sky reveal the distant, sharp outlines of buildings and pylons.

* **SFX:** *Thump-thump-thump… (helicopter rotor blades)*

**Panel 7:**

* **Visual:** A tight, impactful shot of “Balloon Corner.” The monster’s vehicle, angled sharply, clips a weathered stone dedication marker on the corner. Fragments of stone fly off upon impact. The driver’s face is a mask of intense focus or perhaps a grimace.

* **SFX:** *CRUNCH!*

**Panel 8:**

* **Visual:** A POV shot from inside the lead patrol car. The windshield is partially obscured by swirling snowflakes. In the distance, a faint, almost ethereal spray of ice crystals hangs in the air, disappearing down the narrow, snow-covered Dellsome Lane.

* **SFX:** *Static crackle… (radio)*

**Panel 9:**

* **Visual:** Interior of the patrol car. Two officers. One is speaking into the radio, his face determined but slightly strained. The other is focused on the road ahead.

* **CAPTION (Speech Bubble):** “We’ve got him, he thinks he can drive all the way down Dellsome…”

* **CAPTION (Speech Bubble):** “…he doesn’t know they’ve sealed it off, goes to show how long he’s been underground.”

**Panel 10:**

* **Visual:** A montage of quick cuts. Flashing lights reflecting off snow-covered streets. An operator at a switchboard, overwhelmed by blinking lights and incoming calls. Close-up on a worried face in a window, peering out into the strange weather.

* **SFX:** *Ring! Ring! Blip… Static…*

**Panel 11:**

* **Visual:** A wider shot of Dellsome Lane. The stark, geometric shapes of electricity pylons march alongside the snow-covered road. Two distinct sets of tyre tracks are visible in the snow, one heading straight, the other veering towards the pylons.

* **SFX:** *Wind howling softly*

**Panel 12:**

* **Visual:** The Barnet By Pass, a wider, multi-lane road, partially obscured by swirling fog. The implication is that other pursuit vehicles are approaching from this direction.

* **SFX:** *distant traffic hum*

**Panel 13:**

* **Visual:** Close-up on the barrier sealing off Dellsome Lane – concrete blocks, police tape flapping in the wind. Two figures (police officers) are scrambling over the barrier, their movements urgent.

* **SFX:** *Clang… Thump…*

**Panel 14:**

* **Visual:** The officers running up Dellsome Lane, their figures becoming smaller as they disappear into the thick fog. The only visible element is the snow-covered road and the ghostly outlines of trees.

* **SFX:** *Heavy breathing… crunching snow*

**Panel 15:**

* **Visual:** A panel filled with dense fog. Emerging from the swirling white is a single, piercing headlight, growing larger. The sound of an approaching engine is implied through strong motion lines emanating from the light.

* **SFX:** *Low, guttural RUMBLE…*

**Panel 16:**

* **Visual:** A sudden, violent impact. The patrol car, caught in the ice, flips dramatically, a chaotic mess of metal, glass, and snow. The headlight is now pointing skyward.

* **SFX:** *CRASH! SCREEECH! SHATTER!*

**Panel 17:**

* **Visual:** The upturned, wrecked patrol car in the snow-covered field. The officers are dazed inside. The surrounding fog is thick and obscures everything beyond a few feet. No sign of the monster or his vehicle.

* **SFX:** *Hiss of escaping steam… groaning metal*

**Panel 18:**

* **Visual:** A panel of pure, swirling mist. The sense of disappearance and the unknown is emphasized.

* **SFX:** *Silence… then a distant, muffled BOOM*

**Panel 19:**

* **Visual:** The officers, now outside the wrecked car, are cautiously climbing up the snowy embankment of Dellsome Lane, pushing through snow-laden branches. The fog is beginning to lift, revealing snow-covered trees.

* **SFX:** *Heavy breathing… rustling branches*

**Panel 20:**

* **Visual:** A wider shot. Above the treeline, a dark plume of smoke rises against the white sky, originating from beyond the stark silhouette of an electricity pylon at the highest point of a low hill.

* **SFX:** *Whoosh of wind… distant crackling*

**Panel 21:**

* **Visual:** The horse field, covered in snow. Strange, circular patches of dense fog hover above each distinct area where a horse might typically stand. The horses are camouflaged by snow, only their hoof prints are visible forming a frantic number 8. A single tyre track leads from the edge of Dellsome Lane towards these fog-shrouded areas.

* **SFX:** *Eerie silence, broken only by soft wind*

**Panel 22:**

* **Visual:** The officers crossing the snowy field, their footprints breaking the pristine surface. One officer points down at the single tyre track in the snow, his expression a mix of confusion and realization.

* **CAPTION (Speech Bubble):** “Tyre track! Here!”

**Panel 23:**

* **Visual:** Close-up on the single tyre track in the snow littered with a constellation of glistening ice crystals.

* **SFX:** *Soft crunch of snow*

**Panel 24:**

* **Visual:** The officers reaching the base of the pylon. One officer stares down at the single tyre track, his brow furrowed in thought.

* **CAPTION (Speech Bubble):** “It’s only one tyre track! Is it a motorbike? It looks like a car tyre to me!”

**Panel 25:**

* **Visual:** Close-up on the ground near the pylon. A distinct, scorched mark is visible in the snow and the underlying earth – the “Phaeton mark.” One officer looks down at it with a look of dawning recognition and unease.

* **CAPTION (Speech Bubble):** “Isn’t this where…? It is! This is exactly where the Phaeton mark is, from the jet tests. This is where the mirror man fixed his position, the triangulation point.”

**Panel 26:**

* **Visual:** A sudden, explosive burst of orange and yellow flames erupts in the distance, beyond the pylon. The force of the explosion creates a shockwave rippling through the air (indicated by distorted lines).

* **SFX:** *WHOOSH! BOOM!* (loud, impactful)

**Panel 27:**

* **Visual:** A penultimate, slightly surreal panel. A close-up on the swirling snow and the distant, fading glow of the flames. Overlaid on the image are abstract representations of scientific concepts – perhaps diagrams of motion, vectors, or distorted space-time – hinting at the later discussion of Mach and Newton.

**Panel 27:**

* **Visual:** The closing panel. The monster’s car is a twisted smoking wreck in the snow covered field. The painted smoke becomes part of the constellation above the distant tower blocks of the New Town. In a box, the typewriter text on textured paper, between two sets of … dot dot dot… reads… the moment explodes…

* **CAPTION (Text Box, slightly detached):** “Later there would be conflicting opinions on the time between the two bangs. Like Mach’s experiments it depended on the relative position of bodies in motion and various factors concerning the forces exerted by the universe, forces which contradict Newton, in the Newtown.”

* **SFX:** *Fading crackle… lingering silence*
